1. Old-Age Pension

This is the main EOBI benefit. It is paid every month for the rest of your life.

Who qualifies

  • Age 60 for men. Age 55 for women.
  • EOBI contribution paid for at least 15 years.
  • A part year of 6 months or more counts as a full year. So 14 years 6 months counts as 15 years. The Federal Constitutional Court confirmed this in January 2026.

How much you get

Pension = Average monthly wage × Years of contribution ÷ 50

The average wage is the wage on which contribution was paid in your last 12 months before you qualified.

Example: wage Rs 40,000 and 20 years. 40,000 × 20 ÷ 50 = Rs 16,000 per month.

If the formula gives less than Rs 11,500, EOBI pays Rs 11,500. This minimum applies from 1 January 2025. Pension increase history

2. Old-Age Grant

This is a one-time payment for workers who reach pension age without 15 years of contribution.

Who qualifies

  • Age 60 for men. Age 55 for women.
  • At least 2 years of contribution, but less than 15 years.

How much you get

One month’s average wage for every completed year. A part year of 6 months or more counts as a full year.

Example: wage Rs 40,000 and 8 years 7 months. 40,000 × 9 = Rs 360,000 once.

3. Survivor’s Pension

This pension goes to the family when an insured person or pensioner dies.

When the family qualifies

  • The insured person dies while in insurable employment after at least 36 months of contribution.
  • Or the insured person dies after completing 5 years of insurable employment.
  • Or the person was already getting Old-Age or Invalidity Pension.

How much

If death happens in service after 36 months, the spouse gets a life pension equal to the minimum pension, now Rs 11,500. If the person was already a pensioner, the family continues on that pension.
